Grand Canyon (110 miles):
Casa Sedona is the ideal place to stay and enjoy a fabulous trip to
the Grand Canyon. Only two hours away by car, it is an extraordinary
day trip. Casa Sedona will provide a map so you do not miss the highlights.
Leaving Casa Sedona, the first part of your trip takes you into Oak
Creek Canyon, designated as one of the most scenic highways in the United
States. Then drive through the high desert and see the beauty of past
volcanic activities, Indian ruins and the Painted Desert. Stop by the

The Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world, carved
through the rocks of the Colorado Plateau. The park is over a million
acres of land with average elevation of the south rim being approximately
6,850 feet and of the north rim being approximately 8,100 feet. The
sheer beauty and size, the awe-inspiring views and the Colorado River
is something that must be experienced to be believed. Some of the rocks
that make up the walls of the Grand Canyon are over 2 billion years
old. Every layer reveals a period of geology from our past. The Grand
Canyon averages 10 miles from rim to rim (5 miles minimum to 18 miles
maximum) and is 277 miles long stretching from Lee’s Ferry to
the Grand Wash Cliffs at Lake Mead. The Canyon is more than a mile deep
when measured from the North Rim. The south rim of the Grand Canyon
is high desert terrain. Pinion Pine trees, cacti and yucca plants abound.
You may see mule deer, ravens, Pinion Jays and various species of squirrels.
